Karnataka HM orders Mysuru cops to book leaders over alleged 'hate speech video'

Tuesday, December 14, 2021

Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Tuesday directed the Mysuru police to take action against Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) member Maulana Nooruddin Farooqui for his 'provocative' statements.

"I have instructed the police to take action immediately in the matter. I have informed Mysuru cops to take Suo moto cognizance, I agree that Mysuru cops have delayed in taking action but now it will be done," Jnanendra told in a TV interview in Bengaluru.

On December 6, Farooqui allegedly threatened to gouge the eyes of RSS and Bajrang Dal members and also made some statements in regards to the Ram mandir in Ayodhya.

The SDPI leader made the comments while referring to controversy around the Jamia Masjid in Srirangapatna. He claimed that pro Hindu groups have been claiming the mosque is built over a hanuman temple and have been trying to instigate people in the area.
