Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai offered ‘bagina’ to Kabini Reservoir after offering the traditional puja at Beechanahalli in H D Kote of Mysuru district on Tuesday. The event at Kabini was attended by Ministers Govind Karajol, S T Somashekar, MLAs Anil Chikkamadu and N Mahesh and other local leaders. Later on, Bommai offered bagina (traditional thanksgiving) at KRS Reservoir in Srirangapattana, Mandya district. Rituals were performed by Bhanu Prakash Sharma. Sports Minister Dr K C Narayana Gowda, Mandya Member of Parliament Sumalatha Ambareesh, MLAs Ravindra Srikantaiah, Mandya Deputy Commissioner Thammanna, C S Puttaraju, Congress MLA Tanveer Sait, former MLC Go Madhusudana, Mandya Deputy Commissioner Ashwathi and others were present. Talking to reporters on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “All the reservoirs in the state are full. Offering bagina to reservoirs is a happy occasion. More than us, we want the farmers to be happy. On an earlier occasion, I had offered to bagina as Irrigation Minister.” He said, “There is a strong demand to develop Kabini Reservoir on the lines of Brindavan Gardens. We will give it a thought.”
