Mysuru journalist assaulted during protests

Mysuru District Journalist Association (MDJA) condemns the attack on a Urdu newspaper journalist, who was assaulted in Mysuru.

Earlier, the activists of Hindu Jagarana Vedike assaulted and manhandled a journalist of an Urdu daily at a protest called by Hindu Jagaran Vedike.

The protest at Mysore Palace North Gate protest was called against the demolition of temples, especially the Adishakti Mahadevamma temple at Huchgani village in Nanjangud taluk recently.

Mohammed Safdar Kaiser chief editor of The Daily Kausar was recording the confrontation of MLA SA Ramadas by the protesters, when a group of right-wing activists took objection to video recording the event. Local police who were present at the protest site took the journalist to a room attached to the palace compound for his safety.

MDJA president has written to the Commissioner of Police demanding action against the assailants and has demanded more security for journalists during religious events.
