The temple authorities at the Ranganatha Swamy Temple in BR Hills removed the photos of the Maharajas of Mysuru Krishnaraja Wodeyar and Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, which were placed at the Ranganatha Swamy Temple. The Maharaja of Mysore made large contribution towards the development of the region and also the hill temple at the BR Hills. Their photos were placed in the temple to commemorate the Maharaja's contribution to the temple's prosperity. According to sources, during the recent renovation of the Ranganatha Swamy Temple, a senior district-level official who visited the temple instructed to remove the photos. Devotees were outraged against the officers action.
